JEE PYQs - Previous Year Questions

Master the JEE pattern by solving authentic previous year questions. This page provides a comprehensive collection of PYQ books from top publishers like Arihant, Disha, MathonGo, and Unacademy, covering decades of JEE Main and Advanced papers.

How to Effectively Use PYQs for JEE

The Ultimate Reality Check: Previous Year Questions (PYQs) are the only true reflection of the actual exam pattern. Mock tests and coaching modules are often biased or artificially inflated in difficulty. If you can solve NTA PYQs, you can crack the actual exam.

Chapter-wise vs. Year-wise:

  • During Preparation (Class 11/12): You MUST solve chapter-wise PYQs immediately after finishing a topic to validate your learning. Do not save them for later.
  • Final 2 Months: Switch exclusively to year-wise papers. Solve them as 3-hour mocks to build stamina, time management, and exam temperament.

The 5-Year Rule: For JEE Main, the last 5 years (2019 onwards) are the absolute most crucial because the exam pattern changed significantly when NTA took over. For JEE Advanced, try to solve papers from 2006 onwards, as Advanced concepts repeat frequently in disguised forms.

Analysis is Everything: Solving a PYQ is only 50% of the job. You must analyze the solutions. Did you take the long algebraic route when a graphical shortcut existed? Did you misread a 'NOT' in the question? Maintain an error log for every PYQ you get wrong.

Frequently Asked Questions about JEE PYQs

When should I start solving PYQs?

Immediately. Do not save PYQs for the end of the year. The moment you finish a chapter's theory and basic module questions, solve its past 5 years' PYQs to understand the exact level required.

Which PYQ book is best: Disha, Arihant, or MathonGo?

MathonGo is currently the most accurate and error-free for recent JEE Mains. Disha's 46 Years is excellent for a comprehensive, long-term historical view of JEE Advanced.

Should I solve JEE Advanced PYQs if I am targeting Mains?

If you have time, solving single-choice objective questions from older JEE Advanced papers is highly beneficial, as those concepts often trickle down to modern JEE Mains papers.

How many years of PYQs are enough?

For JEE Main: The last 5 years (2019-present) is mandatory due to NTA's pattern changes. For JEE Advanced: Try to cover from 2006 onwards.

Are chapter-wise PYQs better than year-wise?

They serve different purposes. Chapter-wise is for concept building during the year. Year-wise is strictly for exam temperament and time management in the final 2 months.
